Volunteer: Regional Executive Office Support

Work in the executive suite - virtually. Volunteer for the Regional Executive Officer and the Executive Coordinator - learning the ins and outs of the C-Suite at the Red Cross! 

Responsibilities: Assist in running the management suite efficiently and effectively in support of the Regional CEO
Sort, scan and distribute mail
Database management (Microsoft Access) – Board of Directors and Ohio Government Officials
database
Enter board/volunteer hours in Volunteer Connection software and generate monthly report
Assist in the coordination/planning of Board and/or committee meetings, Division/Regional All Staff
meetings, and other events as directed
Scan, track, and monitor contracts: file both hard and soft copies
Provide advanced internet research
E-mail Regional staff on behalf of the Executive Coordinator (as directed)
Inventory control – maintain up-to-date records on office supplies and promotional items for the
region

Time Commitment: Flexible, during business week (Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm)
Qualifications: Ability to handle confidential information
Advanced research capability utilizing the internet and other resources
Effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management in the organization
Willingness to learn new software programs
Skilled Microsoft Office (required): Word, Excel, Access, Outlook; knowledge of Picture Publisher and
Photoshop
Ability to type 50 words per minute
Strong verbal and written communication skills (sample writing will be required)
Proactive and creative thinking

Relationships: On-going work direction provided by Executive Coordinator, with support provided by members of the Senior
Management team

Length of Apptmt: As needed

Description

The Disaster Action Team (DAT) serves as the first, on-the-scene, Red Cross contact at the site of a disaster. While not considered first responders in the technical sense, DAT members are typically the first people at a disaster scene who provide comfort and direct assistance to help those who have been affected as they begin the recovery process.

When disaster strikes, DAT members are generally dispatched in teams of two to three people: an experienced DAT Responder and one or more DAT members in training.

Specific responsibilities include:

Conducting damage assessments of affected dwellings and determining habitability Initiating casework to ensure that people have shelter, food and clothing to meet immediate needs after a disaster Supporting the “Mass Care” function, including assisting with feeding and shelter operations for larger scale disaster responses

Qualifications

Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Must be capable of working at a disaster scene Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills Ability to promote and maintain productive working relationships with a variety of individuals
