Who We Are

JEE Foods is a student-powered organization that tackles food waste and food insecurity while targeting the root causes of poverty. At the core, JEE Foods recovers perfectly good excess food from across the supply chain and redirects it to hunger-fighting charities. From a sheet pan of leftover catered food to a semi-trailer of excess product, JEE Foods bridges the gap between excess and need. JEE Foods utilizes a network of volunteers and technology to connect food donors with agencies, ensuring that good food reaches those who need it most.

What We Do

JEE Foods mobilizes the power of students and community members to be the link between excess food and those in need. Weekly, JEE Foods coordinates upwards of 100 food pickups from local businesses and transports them directly to nonprofit organizations. These rescues are completed by volunteers using their own vehicles when it is convenient for them, using a technology-powered approach. In simplest terms, it is the Uber of food rescue.

JEE Foods serves businesses of all sizes. In addition to smaller rescues, JEE Foods recovers large truckloads of product that are sorted and distributed to both the community and hundreds of nonprofit organizations from our local facility in downtown Hamilton.

Our operations revolve around the reality that if we recovered ⅓ of what is wasted each year, we could feed everyone who is hungry.
