Who We Are

Pause for Parents, Play for Kids, Inc. provides rest, support, connection and fun to families with differing needs to build resilience and increase hope. We support families who have children (ages 0-24) with developmental disabilities, mental/behavioral health challenges (including complex trauma), chronic medical conditions, children with IEPs/504s and those in foster or kinship care.

We provide this support through the use of short term respite events. These events give caretakers a few hours to recharge while we have fun and pour into their kids. All events are pre-planned and intentionally designed to be trauma informed and resiliency based. As a volunteer, you simply get to show up and connect with our sweet kids who are excited to spend time with you!

What We Do

Regardless if you are engineering student or have years of special education experience, each volunteer will see the capacity to make a difference and to be part of the solution of support for Pause families. Volunteers fuel our mission here at Pause! Volunteers make it possible to never turn away families in desperate need of respite.

As a volunteer, you help us ensure each child will be valued, loved and appreciated for their individual gifts and abilities. Each family will be given the space to share their family’s joys, hardships, areas of growth and the opportunity to partner with Pause for better outcomes in caregiver stress, family functioning and resilience. All while having fun and gaining relevant skills for life.
