NorthStar Home Hospice is locally owned and we are committed to providing compassionate, personalized care to our neighbors when they need it most.
Volunteers are the HEART of our hospice team! We are committed to engaging dedicated and compassionate people in supporting patients and families through friendly visits to their homes or long-term care facilities throughout the Great Cincinnati area, including Butler County. Being a hospice volunteer is profoundly rewarding and there is no previous experience needed or medical/personal care involved.
Some of the ways YOU can make a difference when visiting patients:
- Providing companionship
- Reading aloud to the patient or listening to music together
- Looking at photos together and sharing memories (life review)
- Sitting with a patient so caregivers have free time (respite)
- Journaling or scrapbooking (helping the patient record their history)
- Watching movies or playing games
- Simply being present
We provide volunteers with ongoing support, comprehensive orientation/training, and screenings at no cost to you. Once you complete your orientation and screenings, we will strive to assign you close to your home or work, and based on your schedule and availability.
