Event Description:
Join MetroParks and the Butler County Soil and Water District on foot or by kayak as we work to clean up litter around the wetlands at Gilmore Ponds MetroPark. Volunteers can bring their kayak or canoe and venture out into the wetlands to collect litter that would otherwise be inaccessible, or hike along the trails to gather litter that hasn't made its way into the wetlands.
Task:
collect litter either along the trails or in a kayak or canoe using a grabber and trash bags
Volunteers wishing to kayak MUST bring their own kayak or canoe, and a personal flotation device
Times and Locations
Saturday, June 28, 9:00 am- 12:00 0m
Gilmore Ponds MetroPark, 7950 N. Gilmore Road, Hamilton OH 45015 (For Kayakers)
8300 Bilstein Boulevard, Hamilton OH 45015 (For walkers)
What to Wear & Bring:
- Long pants
- Sturdy, closed-toed shoes
- Weather-appropriate clothing and layers (Warm jacket, rain jacket, hat, extra layer, etc.)
- Sunglasses (Optional; For sun protection during outside activities.)
- Work gloves (Optional; Available through MetroParks.)
- Water bottle (we will have a refill station avalible)
- Snacks
- MetroParks will provide all other tools necessary to complete the tasks for the day.
Weather:
We will work through light rain, but cancel for thunderstorms or severe weather. Please check the forecast to ensure you all bring the necessary items and wear the proper clothing.
Accommodations:
The MetroParks may provide accommodation to volunteer project participants depending on the nature of the tasks. Any request must be sent directly to the Manager of Volunteer Resources at least two days before the project begins
