NorthStar Home Hospice is locally owned and operated and we are committed to providing compassionate, personalized care to our patients who are living in their own homes or long-term care facilities throughout the Greater Cincinnati area, including Butler County.
At NorthStar Home Hospice, we believe in neighbors helping neighbors. If you're a senior with a caring heart, your presence can mean the world to another senior on their final journey. Being a hospice volunteer is profoundly rewarding and there is no previous experience needed or personal care involved.
Some of the ways YOU can make a difference when visiting patients:
- Providing companionship
- Reading aloud to the patient or listening to music together
- Looking at photos together and sharing memories (life review)
- Sitting with a patient so caregivers have free time (respite)
- Journaling or scrapbooking (helping the patient record their history)
- Watching movies or playing games
- Simply being present
We provide volunteers with:
- Comprehensive orientation/training
- Screenings (at no cost to you)
- Ongoing support from our professional hospice team
- Flexibility - we will work with your schedule, availability, and assignment preferences
